  • What is Fade

    FADE has been in development for 4 years and is a third person dark fantasy rpg inspired by hit games like Fable and Dark Souls. It has a strong sense of narrative and it’s plot is inspired by Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood.

  • Why FADE?

    FADE is a passion project I started working on in between shifts at tough jobs, moments of reprieve in college classes. I missed the feeling I got playing FABLE and I wanted to craft an experience like that with Soulslike Combat.

  • Who am I?

    I’m Houston Holmes, a solo developer who is obsessed with long winded intros, over the top action scenes, and most importantly, fantasy games. I’ve been working on games for 8 years as a hobby alongside a full time job.

  • Our Journey So Far?

    FADE’s been in early access for 4 years and has garnered a small fanbase. We made it onto IGN, got to meet a board of judges that reviewed FADE and said it was promising, but we had much further to go.

  • Where are we now?

    Right now, FADE’s team includes a slew of freelance voiceactors, artists and me as the lead dev. Currently we’re trying to churn into full gear to finish FADE in two years.

  • Why Kickstarter?

    We chose Kickstarter cause some of our favorite titles have it to thank for being made reality. We believe in community and gamers will support the projects they want to play. We’re seeking $10,000 in funding to pay our 3d artist to design FADE’s bosses and craft our character creator.

Baltane, a nation left in shambles after the Decade Long Calamity, a turbulent war between the Nations of Alibaster and Corvia which shook the very core of the continent. In a time of recovery and peace, Five Homunculus arrive in secret. In a quick flash they disrupt the recovery of all of Baltane’s settlments bringing it to its knees. A hero will have to travel to the settlements of Celeste, Solemn, Whisper, and The Baltane Capital in order stop the Homunculus and their destructive plot to make the entire country a sacrifice.

  • ANIME INSPIRED STORY TELLING

    Fade’s narrative is dramatic and puts the player in tight decisions alongside even tougher combat. Be prepared to have the lives of others constantly in your hands.

  • A SOCIETY ON THE BRINK AND IN NEED

    The events of the calamity effect Baltane’s citizens lives in drastic ways. Take side quests and unlock secrets that can pivot the result of your story.

  • PUNISHING, YET REWARDING COMBAT

    FADE’s combat has a heavy focus on resource management. From your arrows, stamina, mana, and even your potions, you’re gonna be balancing your usage to come out on top in every fight.

CLASSIC SOULSLIKE RPG

FADE hopes to provide a classic RPG inspired journey with a souls-like twist on the combat. Players can expect to travel to settlements, take on quests, meet interesting NPCS, and face off against powerful foes in between.

Though a land in turmoil, Baltane is not a place without opportunity. Take on part time job side quests to make extra gold and complete special quest lines. “Someone’s gotta clear these monsters out of the sewer”

Step aside from challenging godlike beings to take on life skill endeavors such as, Fishing, Mining, and Crafting.

CORE GAMEPLAY

Fast paced, stamina based combat system with a heavy emphasis on  weapon weight. In combat the player can attack, dodge, roll, and parry their opponents moves, classic capabilities found in souls-like games with its own unique touches.

Melee combat revolves around managing stamina, using unique weapon skills and the skillful usage of blocks, parries, magic and finishers. In Baltane aura manipulators imbue magic weapons with powerful spells, allowing you to blend magic into any melee encounter. 

FADE’s feedback loop revolves around exploring areas, finding forgotten items, opening passageways and remapping Baltane’s aura mantles to recover the trade routes.

In between this endeavor, the player will find lairs of the homunculus behind Baltane’s ruin and have to defeat them to progress the story.

HOW TO JOIN THE EVENT?

  1. Record and time yourself beating the demo as fast as possible, starting timer from the first cutscene to the final cutscene after defeating the demo boss.

  2. Upload your run to Youtube or Speedrun.com.

  3. Fill out the form below before March 1st, so we can contact you if you’re selected and include a working link to your run.

  4. Wait until March 8th when we announce the winner on youtube and await being contacted if you won.
